I have 11 websites using their protection and most are on the free plan. Cloud flare is the best to protect against ddos attacks if you know how to add custom rules yourself, you can rate limit and add page rules so spammers cannot ddos your website plus the bot fight mode tool they have is awesome!. Many people say they had bad support/late but you guys need to understand that they protect millions of websites for FREE and they take longer to reply for those reasons. The times I sent them a message they replied within 24 hours and they were helpful and professional at all times. I always recommend people cloud flare because its free to use and even the free plan will protect and stop DDOS attacks no matter how big they are.

Cloudflare services have been used by Rescator, a carding website that sells stolen payment card data.[98][99][100]
In 2018, Cloudflare was identified by the European Union's Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List as a "notorious market" which engages in, facilitates, or benefits from counterfeiting and piracy. The report noted that Cloudflare hides and anonymizes the operators of 40% of the world's pirate sites, and 62% of the 500 largest such sites, and "does not follow due diligence when opening accounts for websites to prevent illegal sites from using its services."[101][102] Italian courts have enjoined Cloudflare to cease hosting pirate television service "IPTV THE BEST" after it was found to be infringing the intellectual property of Sky Italy and the Italian football league,[103] and German courts have similarly found that "Cloudflare and its anonymization services attract structurally copyright infringing websites."[104]
Cloudflare has been cited in reports by The Spamhaus Project, an international spam tracking organization, for the high numbers of cybercriminal botnet operations hosted by Cloudflare.[105][106][107] An October 2015 report found that Cloudflare provisioned 40% of the SSL certificates used by typosquatting phishing sites, which use deceptive domain names resembling those of banks and payment processors to compromise Internet users' banking and other transactions.[108]

Cloudflare is the #1 protection service for spammers, scammers and phishing. Cloudflare refuses to take action on spammers abusing it's services. I get the same spam every day and they refuse to cut off that persons account, will not give us the name of the host provider and basically stands as protection for 90% of the spam I get every single day. Please do not do business with this company until they start taking real action against the constant abuse of it's services. If I could block anything tied to a cloudflare account I would.
i have experienced the same issue and the scamming website is hosted by Cloudfare who seemingly has no way to contact support unless you have an account with them. we need to file a compliant with the FBI or the ic3.gov and the BBB. Let me know what measures you have taken thus far as i will add my issues and complaints alongside.
Being on the receiving end during web brousing, Cloudflare sucks big time
The f'king security check screen is blocking access to many web sites and it's growing. Not only that, half the time the captia's don't work even after many attempts. It's becoming a REAL PAIN IN THE A S S to many web surfers. This may be a needed service for web sites, but it should be done without pissing us off .
Why do they track our activity online? I switched to the new app DuckDuckGo came out with and was immediately informed that cloudflare was tracking me at one of my websites I routinely visit. Are they CIA?

Bad service, no way to report issues unless you are a paying customer
When trying to reach a site using CloudFlare as gateway, it's always a 30% chance that you will get through. Don't know why companies use such a lousy service and actually pay for it!
I have a still ongoing and unresolved issue on one of their regional server. I have checked a ticket about it.
First a whole week went by while nothing happened and they just stmaped it as resolved issue. I appealed. Two days later finally I got someone on the line who asked for some info. I provided them, stating their server does an unwanted redirection to Google main site. I backed this up with browser logs, server logs, connection logs and screenshots. Another two days later they asked the same thing again, not even reading the previous reply. I copied my previous reply with all the attachments with an attention for reading previous replies. Yet another two days later they asked to set a page rule. Now I provided them (yet again) what happens even with the page rule on. (What does not help at all just worsening the problem.) And I'm playing the waiting game yet again.
I don't know why WPEngine recommends using CloudFlare. What a joke. I have been down for 2 days and there isn't ANYWAY to get support without opening a ticket with them that will put me down for another 2 days. All I did was use their CName flattening and point my domain. It took 24 hours to update and I couldn't access my site AT all during this time. THEN when it came up there was an issue with the SSL not working. I cancelled theirs, used Encrypt with WPEngine and bam, site not accessible again. After nearly an hour on support with WPEngine, they bypass CloudFlare and it works fine. They tell me to contact them to flush their cache. HA! As if I could. I flush the cache myself, wait 5 hours, and I STILL can't access my site. So I delete the entire account and point the DNS directly to WPEngine through the A record. Wow, what a surprise, within 5 minutes I am back in business. I will NEVER use them again. I lost 2 days of work for nothing.
